Payson Labor Day Parade is this Monday!!

Hey everyone we will be participating in the Payson Labor Day Parade this Monday, September 7.  Several of you purchased T-shirts for the Parade they will be done Thursday, September 3.  If you want to pick them up I will be teaching at the Peteetneet Thursday, September 3 from 4-8pm or otherwise I will bring their T-shirt to the Parade.  Along with their T-shirt they need to wear any levi bottoms (shorts, capris, jeggings etc.) & sneakers.  I've also had many students who signed up for dance after we had already ordered the Parade T-shirts, if they still want to be in the Parade they are more than welcome, just have them where a bright colored T-shirt and the levi bottoms and sneakers.

Your child needs to meet at the Parade Line-Up (1400 South in Payson, there are 2 churches right next to each other we will meet at the second church on Monday, September 7 by 9:30am.  We are number #55, the Parade starts at 10am and you will need to pick up your child at Payson Market after the Parade.

Note there is no dance on Monday.  The only class I will be making up is the "Show Stoppers" they will be combined with my "Rock Star" class on Thursday, September 10 from 4-5pm.  The technique classes are participating in the Parade so that will count for their class plus we will have extra practices throughout the year for our team girls.

Competition Teams

Please fill out the form below if your dancer(s) will be coming back for Fall Dance.

Also if your dancer is 6 & Older and would be interested in being on a Competition Team for the Fall, please ask me about it.  They will have several opportunities to perform and compete throughout the year, which helps students to develop their dance skills and performance ability at a much faster pace. Teams are made up of a combination between skill level and age. Teams members will dance twice a week & compete at 3-4 competitions & have other local performances. 

6-10 yr. old team girls will go 1 hour twice a week-tuition is $45 per month. 

11-17 yr. old team girls will go 1.5 hours twice a week- tuition is $55 per month.

I also have hip hop teams that come one day a week for an 1.5 hours-tuition is $40 per month; I accept boys & girls for this team ages 6-17.

(Note: you can be on a Jazz/Lyrical Team & a Hip Hop Team.)  If you do both teams you will only have to pay $20 for the hip hop team per month. The girls have so much fun competing & if your child loves to dance they would have a blast being on a team.

Stadium of Fire (Any dancer 7 & older)


Stadium of Fire

If your child is 7 or older they have an awesome opportunity to dance at the Stadium of Fire on the 4th of July.

You may already be familiar with this amazing show as it is one of the biggest and BEST 4th of July Celebrations in the Nation!! The show is held in Provo (UT) at Brigham Young University’s Football Stadium. It is an annual 4th of July celebration, and it’s televised across the world to all USA soldiers/military.

There are mandatory practices for SOF Dancers July 2, 3 & 4.
 
COST: $200.00 (below I have broken up the payments & explained what this all pays for)

$85.00 per participant which includes Costume(s), Prop(s), and ticket for the show (for the performer only).   I need $25.00 of this paid ASAP & no later than March 18 (this secures your child’s spot for the SOF).  Then the other $60.00 must be paid no later than April 15. 

$115.00 will be due June 2nd.  This fee will include tuition for the month of June to learn the routine.  I’m planning on them practicing Tuesday & Thursday mornings for a 1.5hr and they will also get a pair of dance shorts & 2 t-shirts or tank tops that will be professionally screen printed.  So when we are at the stadium practices, we look like a team.  Please bring back the bottom of this note if your child wishes to participate.

Also if anyone is interested I can still get the Papa Murphy’s Pizza Fundraiser Cards.  They cost $1.00 each and you can sale them for $5.00 or up to $10.00.

Seniors, Teens & Juniors have been invited to perform at the Salem Hills High Lashay Drill Night this Thursday, March 5.  They need to be at Salem Hill High Gym by 6:00pm, hair and makeup is the same as competition.  Seniors-"Eleanor Rigby" Teens-"A Little Party Never Killed Nobody" Juniors-"Once Upon A Dream".  Dancers get in free and I'm not sure how much it costs for everyone else but I will find out ASAP.

All my dance teams had a competition this weekend at Thanksgiving Point and they did AMAZING!!  They took a clean sweep, 15 first places, overall studio award for having the most wins and the best team dance for "Human".  Wow what a great start for our competition season!

Awards For Thanksgiving Point Competition

Dancers need to attend their Award Ceremony and come dressed in their Team Warm-Ups.

Any dance performed before 12:30pm will be scored and announced at the 1st Award Ceremony at 1:00pm.

Any dance performed after 2:00pm will be scored and announced at the 2nd Award Ceremony at 8:00pm.

Hair & Makeup For Competition Teams

All Competition Team Members will wear their hair & makeup the same.

Hair needs to be pulled up into a high sock bun.  The picture below is how I want it to look, I don't know why they call it a hunny bun.  And you don't need to use a sock they sale the sponge bun rollers at Sally's & Wal-Mart.  They also have blonde or brown ones so they will match your hair.


*Reminder Stage Makeup is different than everyday makeup, it needs to be more dramatic.  So their facial expressions stand out on stage.*

Apply foundation. For stage makeup, a full coverage foundation is needed.

Apply a plum (more purple than red) colored eye shadow. If you choose to, after doing the eye shadow you can use a light powder for the face.  (You want to put the eye shadow directly over the foundation so it sticks better.)

Apply eye liner.  This is a crucial part of stage makeup since eyes should pop from afar.


Apply false lashes and mascara. For young girls, you may need to cut lash strips so they properly fit the eye.  Allow lash glue to reach a tacky consistency for a few seconds and then apply to the upper lash line. Then add your mascara to lower lashes & even to the top to make them blend into your false lashes.


Apply blush.  Apply color to the apples of the cheeks and blend thoroughly. Blush should appear as a wash of color radiating from the cheeks. 

Apply lipstick.  We are using CoverGirl Outlast in Plum Berry.  Apply a hefty amount and let it dry, dry, dry then put on the clear shine.
I wish I could perfect this way of the donut bun, but it nver seems to work out. I will have to keep trying! :)

Paysetter Night is Tomorrow

Reminder the Senior, Teen and Junior Teams will be performing at Paysetter Night Tomorrow.  They need to be dressed in their costume and be at the high school by 5pm.  The program will begin at 6pm, remember this is a fundraiser for the drill team so the dancers get in free and everyone else is $4.00.   Hair is pictured below (bump in the front, French braid the sides and pull into a high ponytail.  All the girls need to wear full makeup and the lip stick color is plum berry by covergirl 24 hour lipstick. I can't wait to watch you all perform, it will be amazing!!
